Yet Another Page From the Sketchbook

Here is a drawing from my sketchbook. I am really partial to the mother and child theme. I definitely want to explore it more. A series of paintings would be great. It has been an ambition of mine since I was in college. I might have to continue to put a hold on that idea until time permits me to devote enough time.

I love this! You really should do more! You have such a good style where they are full of emotion, but not stiff or cheesy like a lot of mother/child stuff can be. Reminds me a lot of Burt Silverman.

This is Amazing. I can tell that sight size reading is a fantastic way of gathering acurate information. All your drawings from life are very apealing. YOu should do some drawings of your child (If I remember corectly you have a child, right?).

I like the short lines that describe the eye sockets and the care and accuracy within the features. It is quite touching.

Wonderful picture.
It feels as if she has a desperate longing in her eyes, hoping for something or looking at a better future with so much intensity. This roll her eyes play in the sketch are emphasized by the other iconographic element in the scene, the baby. This all comes together with grade pride in the imperfection of the womens face. The hole between her two extremely large front tooth, her flat nose and thick eyebrows. All elements we can't call appealing in this age.
Great work! You should do a series on this subject!
